About this Episode

In this month’s episode, Msgr. Bill Fay sits down with the newly ordained Deacon Bao Nguyen. Deacon Bao was ordained this past Saturday for the Diocese of Venice in Florida. He shares with us his story about growing up in the United States as a young child, as well as experiences on his journey to diocesan priesthood – beginning with being a newcomer to the U.S. from Vietnam when he was 12 years old, to his fulfilling career in Information Technology, to his eventual pursuit of answering God’s call. What in particular made him answer God? How has seminary life, and this particular unique seminary, sustained him and strengthened him as he follows God’s will? Where, and in whom, does he find the most support? Deacon Bao encourages any man who is thinking that God may be preparing him to serve the Church as a priest to come to the Seminary just outside of Boston for a weekend retreat or First Friday Evening Prayer and perhaps find God’s answers to his questions.

Deacon Bao Nguyen was ordained a Transitional Deacon on April 18, 2026. He will return to Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary for his final year of formation for priesthood with a goal of being ordained a priest in the spring of 2027.
